-SPIKES FINISH FIVE-GAME STRETCH VS. BATAVIA: The State College Spikes complete their second straight extended run against the same opponent as Dwyer Stadium hosts the last game of a three-game series, and the last of the Spikes' five straight against the Batavia Muckdogs. State College is 4-5 against Batavia this year, and looks to stop a four-game slide.
-LAST GAME: Cole White delivered his third home run of the season to help the State College Spikes stay in the thick of it with the Batavia Muckdogs, but two big innings helped the Muckdogs down the Spikes, 6-2, on Monday night at Dwyer Stadium. Adalberto Santos delivered two hits for the Spikes, the only State College player to do so.
-CAIN RISES TO OCCASION FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Colton Cain takes the hill tonight for State College, and looks to continue his streak of stellar outings. Cain has allowed just two runs over his last 16 innings on the mound, including his first pro win against Mahoning Valley last time out. The Waxahachie, TX native has allowed just a .143 average in 2010.
-MUCKDOGS SEND OUT McCULLY: Batavia will go with right-hander Nick McCully on the mound tonight. Last time out, McCully allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over six innings in a win against Williamsport. The Polk County, FL native is 2-1 with a 5.92 ERA in August.
-SANTOS NETS WEEKLY AWARD: Adalberto Santos was named the New York-Penn League's Player of the Week on Monday after going 8-for-18 at the plate with a homer over the last week. Santos is fifth in the NYPL in runs scored (45) and on-base percentage (.407)
-SPIKES WELCOME SINGH TO CLUB: Rinku Singh, one of the two pitchers signed from India by the Pirates in 2008, joined the Spikes on Monday. Singh, a left-hander out of Lucknow, India, went 2-0 with a save and a 2.61 ERA for the GCL Pirates in 2010.
