Stars Win Eighth Straight

Jackson, TN-The Huntsville Stars exploded for a five run seventh inning breaking a 2-2 tie, giving them a 7-3 win over the Jackson Generals Saturday night at The Ballpark at Jackson.

Stars RHP Tyler Cravy improved to 8-1 on the year after six solid innings. It was Cravy's sixth quality start of the season in ten outings.

Cravy was backed by some early run support. In the second inning, Adam Weisenburger singled into right field scoring Mitch Haniger.

The Stars took a 2-0 lead in the third when Haniger singled into left field scoring Nick Ramirez. Haniger went 4-5 with 2 rbi.

In the sixth the Generals scored their only runs against Cravy. With a runner at third and with one out, Leon Landry hit a fly ball to left center field. Stars left fielder Kentrail Davis and centerfielder D'Vontrey Richardson both went after the ball and collided with each other. Landry was able to round the bases and tie the game at 2-2.

The Stars put away the next time they came to the plate in the seventh.

Josh Prince led off with a double to the wall in left center. Richardson then broke the tie with an rbi single into left field giving the Stars a 3-2 lead.

Haniger added his second run producing hit of the night on an rbi single into right field.

Davis and Greg Hopkins then were walked back to back with the bases loaded forcing in a pair of runs. The Stars made it 7-2 on Nick Shaw's single into left field.

The Generals scored their final run in the ninth when Jamal Austin hit in a double play.

The Stars won their eighth straight game and improved to 39-17 while Jackson fell to 22-33.

The Stars lead Jackson 1-0 in their five game series. Game two is Sunday night. RHP Drew Gagnon(4-1, 2.27) will start for the Stars. Jackson will send RHP Matt Anderson(0-2, 8.38)to the mound.
