BLAINE, Minn. (May 23, 2011) - The NSC Minnesota Stars will unveil their 2011 alternate kit this Saturday, May 28, against FC Tampa Bay. The kit, custom-designed for the Stars by Admiral Sportswear, will make its debut on the NSC Stadium field moments before the teams' 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

"A club's kit is very important in regards to branding, and that was our goal with the primary kit. With this alternate kit, we went a little outside the box and designed something that we hope our fans will appreciate," said Kevin Friedland, an NSC Minnesota defender, assistant coach and director of business development. "One of the first things we did when speaking to Admiral was make sure that we were able to design this particular kit. As a player, it means a lot when a company goes out of its way to look after you, and Admiral has done that this season."

Like the Stars' navy and gold primary kit, the 2011 alternate kit will feature the AdmiralSoccer.com logo across the chest, the NASL badge on the sleeve and the Stars custom font for names on the back. The Nessy detail on the lower back will be replaced on the alternate jersey with a different motif commemorating the Stars' 2011 season.

Replicas of the 2011 NSC Minnesota Stars alternate kit will be on sale at the Stars merchandise booth on the stadium concourse Saturday. Like the primary kit, the alternate jersey will be available in replica and authentic models, with prices starting at $55.

Tickets for Saturday's game are available by calling the Stars ticket office at 763.792.7355. Ticket prices start at just $6 in advance for youth age 17 and younger and $12 for adults.

Free Beer Movement to Hold Tailgating Event Saturday

NSC Stadium will also feature several pregame festivities for fans. The Stars supporters group, the Dark Clouds, and the Free Beer Movement, a grassroots soccer organization, will hold an event in the tailgating and grilling area west of the stadium. The FBM began in Austin, Texas, and has spread across the country on the simple idea of introducing new fans to the sport by bringing them along to a game and picking up the check for them. To honor the hard work of the Dark Clouds and the FBM spirit, the Stars will hold two separate drawings before Saturday's game. Every newcomer to the tailgate can enter a drawing for one of five 2011 supporters scarves, while every fan bringing new supporters to the game can enter for a chance to win the 2011 alternate jersey, which will be presented on the field at halftime of Saturday's game.

KFAN to Hold Rube Night

Saturday is the third of five Rube Nights sponsored by KFAN 1130 AM. KFAN will be on-site one hour before the game with prize drawings and station giveaways.
