Omaha Lancers News Release

Two goals in the third period by the Lincoln Stars were enough for them to rally past the Lancers 3-2 on Saturday, November 25th, in front of 3,813 fans at the Mid America Center.

The goals neutralized a 35-save performance by Lancer goaltender Jordan Tibbett and a two-point effort by Brett Bruneteau, that included a shorthanded goal and an assist on Omaha's first goal of the game.

That first goal came on the power play in the initial three minutes of the contest. Lincoln's Patrick McAuley was given a major penalty and a game ejection for his check from behind on Garrett Suter just 31 seconds into the contest. From there, Travis Novak converted his third goal of season and second power play tally at 3:05 for a 1-0 Lancer lead.

However, Stars' forward Colby Cohen scored on the power play with just over one minute remaining for a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes of action.

In the second period, Bruneteau's shorthanded score gave the Lancers a 2-1 advantage at 4:00 of the middle frame.

Lincoln went on the offensive in the third period when Jared Brown scored at 6:19 and Chad Langlais provided the game winning power play goal at 8:01.

The Stars out shot the Lancers 38-25 for the contest, with the Lancers being held to only four shots on net in the final period of play. Lincoln took 15 shots on goal in both the first and third periods.

Omaha was 1-for-9 on the power play and Lincoln scored twice in eight power play chances. The Lancers took 11 penalties for 22 minutes, and Lincoln was whistled 13 times for 37 minutes.

The Lancers' home stand continues next weekend with a pair of games against the USHL's newest team, the Ohio Junior Bluejackets. Games Friday and Saturday night will start at 7:05 PM each night. Tickets are available through the normal outlets, including Ticketmaster and the MAC Box Office. Broadcast coverage on Magic 1490, KOMJ begins at 6:50 PM each evening.
