Stars send Jaxx to fourth straight loss

Huntsville, AL (June 29th)- The Huntsville Stars scored early and often on Thursday night as they sent the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx to their fourth straight loss, beating the Diamond Jaxx 13-2 before a crowd of 1447 at Joe Davis Stadium.

Huntsville scored two runs in each of the first two innings off losing pitcher Bobby Brownlie (2-6) and never looked back. Brownlie gave up seven runs on ten hits in his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Travis Ezi had three hits and two RBI's to lead the Stars attack. Travis Phelps and Ryan Braun drove in two runs each while Lou Palmisano and Brad Nelson had two hits each to back Ezi's performance.

Jorge de la Rosa made his first rehab start with the Stars. He pitched four shutout innings, allowing just one hit. Phelps (2-6) pitched five innings in relief to pick up the win. Phelps allowed two unearned runs on four hits.

Jake Fox and Brandon Sing drove in the runs for the Diamond Jaxx, whose second half record falls to 5-6.

Game two of the five game series takes place on Friday night at 7:05 CDT. Left-hander J.R. Mathes (7-4 2.97) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Huntsville will counter with lefty Steve Hammond (0-0 0.00).
