Mobile BayBears News Release
Mobile, AL-- Beginning on Thursday, June 29th through Monday, July 3rd the Mobile BayBears will be raising money to purchase protective helmet upgrades for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. These upgrades, provided free of charge to our troops, offer an additional level of protection by cushioning the troopers head from blast and fragment impact and spread the contact over a wider range of area and save lives and prevents disability. Since its inception, Operation Helmet has provided almost 11,000 helmet upgrades to our men and women in uniform. Each upgrade costs either $71 for the Marine and Army upgrade or $99 for Air Force and Navy.
The U.S. Marines, Army, Navy and Air Force will be represented at Hank Aaron Stadium for the entire homestand to accept donations from BayBear fans for this worthy cause.
Dr. Bob Meader, the founder of Operation Helmet, has appeared on CNN, CSPAN, The Lou Dobbs Show and 360 with Anderson Cooper discussing Operation Helmet.
For businesses and individuals who would like to make a donation but cant make it out to the game are encouraged to call the BayBears office at 251.479-2327. Operation Helmet is a 501 c-3 charity and all donations are tax deductible.
