LINCOLN (25-13-1)

The Stars stretched their winning streak to a season-high five games with a pair of wins over the Sioux Falls Stampede last weekend. Lincoln won in overtime, 2-1, at the Ice Box on Friday, before rallying back from a 3-1 first-period deficit on the road to defeat Sioux Falls, 5-4, on Saturday. The Stars are the only team in the USHL with a perfect record in February with a minimum of three games played in it.

Tanner Ludtke scored a pair of goals on Saturday against Sioux Falls to move into second in the Western Conference with 21 goals and is just two behind Sioux City's Ryan Conmy. Ludtke has recorded six multi-goal games, with one coming against the Buccaneers on Nov. 25, and his three goals against Des Moines lead Stars skaters.

DES MOINES BUCCANEERS (13-18-5-3)

The Buccaneers only played once over the weekend and fell to the Chicago Steel, 7-4, at Buccaneer Arena on Saturday. Des Moines outshot Chicago, 41-30, and only trailed by one goal after two periods but surrendered three goals in the third to the top team in the Eastern Conference.

Des Moines has lost three straight since defeating Lincoln, 3-1, on Jan. 28. That victory was the Buccaneers' first win of the season against the Stars but they are 2-5-2-1 in their last 10 games and have not strung together back-to-back victories since winning three straight games Dec. 10-17. Des Moines is four points behind Sioux Falls for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

Close Games: The Stars just picked up a pair of one-goal wins over the weekend against Sioux Falls and now face another opponent with whom they have played close games. All four games between Des Moines and Lincoln have been decided by two-goals-or-less but both games with margins of two goals were only that way because of empty-net tallies in the third period. Each of the Stars' last three wins have been by one goal and as have four wins during their five-game win streak.

Production From The Blue Line: Stars' defensemen Antonio Fernandez and Boston Buckberger shined in the weekend sweep over Sioux Falls. Fernandez scored both Stars' goals last Friday, including the overtime winner, and Buckberger recorded a pair of assists in both games. Fernandez's eight goals lead all Stars' defensemen and are eighth among USHL defensemen. Buckberger is riding a five-game point streak (0+7) and his 31 points are third-most among USHL defensemen.

High Volume Of Shots: The Stars recorded a season-high 51 shots on goal on Friday. Lincoln has broken its previous single-game high for shots on goal in each of their last two Fridays in action and had outshot their opponent in five straight games before Saturday. Lincoln is 14-5-1 when outshooting opponents.
