Stars Acquire Josiah Slavin, Pick from Tri-City

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars have acquired forward Josiah Slavin and a 2018 Phase II 8th Round Pick from the Tri-City Storm in exchange for forward Chase McLane, Stars General Manager Jon Hull announced today.
Slavin, 18, appeared in 49 games with the Tri-City Storm during the 2016-17 season, recording six goals and eight assists for 14 points with 24 penalty minutes, a -14 rating and one power play goal in his rooke season. The 6-foot-2, 182-pound forward made his USHL debut on Sep. 23, 2016 against the Stars and recorded an assist. He scored his first career USHL goal on Jan. 24, 2017 against the Omaha Lancers, which began his first three-game point streak (2-13). Slavin recorded his first multi-point game (1-23) on Mar. 25, 2017 against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
The Erie, Colo. native spent his final midget season with the Colorado Thunderbirds U18 (T1EHL) in 2015-16, recording 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points with 24 penalty minutes through 32 games. Slavin was drafted 225th overall (14th Round) by the Storm in the 2015 USHL Phase II Draft.
"We jumped at the opportunity to add Josiah," said Hull. "he brings valuable USHL experience and leadership to our lineup."
McLane, 17, joined the Stars organization as a 27th overall selection (2nd Round) of the 2016 USHL Phase I Draft prior to his final midget season with Compuware U16 (HPHL), where he earned six goals and two assists for eight points through 17 games. The Trenton, Mich. native earned an assist against Tri-City on September 22 in their 3-1 loss to the Storm at home during the preseason. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound forward committed to Brown University on Jul. 26, 2016.
The final 23-man roster will be announced later.
