LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars have acquired goaltender Dayton Rasmussen from the Chicago Steel in exchange for a 2019 Phase II 1st Round Pick and a 2020 Phase I 4th Round Pick, Stars General Manager Jon Hull announced today.

"Adding Dayton gives us a player with valuable experience and success," said Hull. "We look to learn from his experiences as a player in our league and at the NCAA level."

Rasmussen, 19, returns to the USHL following one season at the University of Denver, tallying a 1-1-1 record with a 3.28 goals-against average and .882 save percentage through five games and helping the Pioneers to a NCHC Championship. The Eden Prairie, Minn., native is a two-time Clark Cup Champion, playing with both the Tri-City Storm and Chicago Steel during their respective championship seasons in 2015 and 2016.

In 38 games between the Storm and Steel during the 2016-17 season, the 6-foot-1, 197-pound goaltender totaled a 17-16-1 record with a 2.45 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage with two shutouts. In two USHL seasons, Rasmussen owns a 21-20-6 record with a 2.54 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage and two shutouts through 54 games while earning 2015-16 USHL All-Rookie Second Team honors. He was drafted 47th overall by the Waterloo Black Hawks in the 2014 USHL Phase I Draft.

"We are very excited to add Dayton to our organization," said Stars Head Coach Cody Chupp. "His experience and proven success in the USHL and at the University of Denver will be a valuable asset in continuing to build a championship-caliber culture here in Lincoln."

This is the second acquisition by the Stars since Stars Main Camp in July. Players are set to report later this month, and the 30-man protected list is slated to be announced on September 1.

The Stars open the 2018-19 home schedule on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7:05 p.m. against the Omaha Lancers.
