Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, are beyond excited to announce that Lord Stanley's Cup is coming to WesBanco Arena, as part of Memorabilia Night on March 14th.

Memorabilia Night will take place on Saturday, March 14th, when the Nailers play host to the Elmira Jackals at 7:35. The highlight of that evening will be when The Hockey Hall of Fame's Keeper of the Cup, Philip Pritchard, brings hockey's most sought after trophy to WesBanco Arena, as the Stanley Cup will be on display for all fans to see. In addition to Lord Stanley, the Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP), Art Ross Trophy (leading scorer), and Ted Lindsay Award (players' choice MVP) will also be making their way to the Ohio Valley, as all three of those individual awards have been won by Pittsburgh Penguins captian Sidney Crosby at one point during his NHL career. The ECHL's championship trophy, the Kelly Cup, will also be on display that evening, in addition to display cases showcasing the Penguins and Nailers/Thunderbirds.

That evening won't be limited to hockey, however, as there will also be memorabilia vendors on hand with items from the NFL, MLB, and NBA as well as the Pittsburgh Pirate's parrot.

Finally, fans will be able to walk home with some memorabilia of their own from the 2014-15 Nailers team, as trading card sets will be handed out to the first 2,500 people through the gates that night. Following the game the entire team will be available to sign autographs in Generations club.

Any fan who has purchased or renewed season tickets for the 2015-16 season will be able to enter WesBanco Arena one half hour earlier than the general public at 6:00PM. Those fans will be able to get in line before anyone else to get their picture with the Stanley Cup on the west side of the arena.

The Nailers will play a four-game homestand from February 27th-March 3rd.

Elmira returns to town on Friday, February 27th at 7:35 as the Nailers host their annual Wing Fest game. That night will also be a Flat Screen Friday, Frosty Friday, Player Poster Giveaway, and Wheeling Island Nailer Night.

Saturday, February 28th is Pink in the Rink, when Wheeling battles Greenville at 7:35 . The Nailers will wear special jerseys, there will be pink rally towels handed out, and autographed mystery pucks will be available for purchase.

Sunday, March 1st wraps up the weekend at 4:05 against the Road Warriors on a Family Funday with $5 kids tickets, Oglebay Good Zoo Day, and a post game skate with the team. That day will also be the annual Pucks & Paws Day, when fans are invited to bring their dogs and cats to the game.

Tuesday, March 3rd will be the make-up game for the postponed contest from February 16th against the Jackals. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05, and fans will be able to purchase a hot dog and soda combo for $5.
