Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeders will begin defence of their Canadian Football League title on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 with a rematch of the 2008 Grey Cup. They'll open the regular season by playing host to the Montreal Alouettes at McMahon Stadium with an 8 p.m. kickoff.

The 2009 CFL season will conclude at McMahon Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 29 with the 97th Grey Cup championship.

"The season opener against Montreal will be of great interest to our fans and the league, so that's a good way to get things started," said Stamps head coach/general manager John Hufnagel. "We realize there will be plenty of talk about the Grey Cup being played in Calgary this year, but there's a lot of football to be played before November."

Calgary's first road game is Friday, July 10 in Winnipeg against the Blue Bombers. The Labour Day matchup is Monday, Sept. 7 against the Edmonton Eskimos with a return date in Edmonton on Friday, Sept. 11. Division playoffs will take place on Sunday, Nov. 15 and Sunday, Nov. 22.
