Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of non-import receiver and five-year Canadian Football League veteran Chris Bauman. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Bauman, the first overall selection in the 2007 CFL Canadian Draft, spent the first four seasons of his career with Hamilton and recorded 114 catches for 1,511 yards and six touchdowns for the Tiger-Cats. The 27-year-old Brandon, Man., product was a member of the Edmonton Eskimos in 2011, seeing action in seven games and making 11 receptions 132 yards.
"Chris has demonstrated that he a solid CFL receiver during his career and we look forward to seeing him at training camp," said Hufnagel. "We are happy to be able to add to our Canadian depth at the receiver position."
Bauman appeared in 71 regular-season contests for the Tiger-Cats and Eskimos and has also excelled in a pair of playoff games, recording a total of nine catches for 162 yards in post-season outings with Hamilton in 2009 and 2010.
"I'm happy to join the Stampeders organization and I'm looking forward to working with the Calgary coaching staff and my new teammates," said Bauman. "The Stamps are always one of the top teams in the CFL in recent years and I will do everything I can to help continue that tradition of success. I'm very grateful for this opportunity."
Prior to turning pro, Bauman played at the University of Regina and earned first-team Canada West and CIS all-star honours in 2006 after leading the country with 923 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He also played junior football with the Winnipeg Rifles.
