(Calgary) – Today Calgary Stampeders’ General Manager and Head Coach Matt Dunigan announced the free agent signing of Receiver Cory Parchman and Linebacker Sheldon Deckart.

Corey Parchman



College: Ball State

HT: 6’ 0” WT: 190 lbs

Born: February 23, 1979

Birthplace: Indianapolis, IL

Stampeders: 1st year

CFL: 1st year



Originally signed with the Stampeders on October 6, 2004 … Previously Corey had various stops in the NFL … signed with the Green Bay Packers on January 19, 2004 who allocated him to NFL Europe … on August 1, 2003 Corey signed as a free agent with the Oakland Raiders however he was released on the 29 of August … at the start of 2003 Parchman signed with the St. Louis Rams on January 7th and was released on May 15th … in 2002 Corey had stops with four different NFL clubs … he started the season signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent back on April 22nd … later on in the year he was released and signed as a free agent by the Green Bay Packers where he was allocated to the practice squad … on November 28th he signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent only to be released shortly after and signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 4th.

College: Utah

HT: 6’ 2” WT: 240 lbs

Born: July 11, 1977

Birthplace: Salt Lake City

Stampeders: 1st year

CFL: 1st year



Originally signed with the Stampeders on October 6th, 2004.


Sheldon was a three-year starter who was an All-Conference selection after both his senior and junior campaigns … he totalled 69 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, two interceptions in his last season … the prior year he recorded 86 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss and six sacks the year before … in his initial season with the first team he recorded 73 tackles.
