Stampeders add two running backs

May 19, 2009 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release

Calgary Stampeders head coach/general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of import running back Cedric Thompson and non-import running back Reggie Bradshaw.

"Thompson is a quick back with a nice burst and very good change of direction," said Hufnagel. "Bradshaw is a big non-import back who is a tough runner. They're up against very strong competition with our current group of backs, but we'll see how they stack up."

Thompson attended training camps for the Arena Football League's Colorado Crush and Utah Blaze and has spent time with the Cincinnati Jungle Kats in Arena Football League 2 and the Wyoming Cavalry in the American Indoor Football Association. He attended the University of Idaho for two seasons after spending two seasons at the College of the Canyons.

Bradshaw was selected by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the fifth round (34th overall) of the 2007 Canadian draft and attended Saskatchewan's training camp in 2008. He attended the University of Montana for two seasons after transferring from Louisville and carried the ball 147 times for 616 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2006, he was tops in the Big Sky Conference with 10 rushing majors.

The Stampeders kick off the 2009 regular season on July 1 at McMahon Stadium in a Grey Cup rematch with the Monteal Alouettes. Season tickets are still available by contacting the Stamps' Ticket Office at 403.289.0258 or by visiting in person. Buying season tickets ensures first rights on seats for the 2009 Grey Cup championship being played in Calgary on Nov. 29.
