Stampeded player Sharif Fajardo tips off the 2004 Olympic games this Sunday against Team USA

Boise, ID- Former Idaho Stampede forward Sharif Fajardo will lace up and tip off against Team USA this Sunday as a member of the Puerto Rican national team. The game between Puerto Rico and the United States will be held in the Heliniko Indoor Arena in Athens, Greece.

Treasure Valley residents can view the game this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. on KTVB Newschannel 7.

Fajardo, a 6'9, 240 lb. forward played with the Stampede during the 2000-01 and 2002-03 seasons. In 21 games with the Stampede during the 2002-03 season, Fajardo averaged 14.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, dished out 32 assists, blocked 13 shots and collected 13 steals. The 6'9 forward played collegiately for the University of Texas- El Paso.

The Stampede finished last season 37-16 and made an appearance in the CBA championship game. The team will begin its seventh season-of-play in November at the Idaho Center.
