Stampede ready for home games Wednesday and Sunday this week

Fresh off a 2-1 victory over Des Moines on Sunday, the Herd (15-30-6) return to the Sioux Falls Arena tomorrow (Wednesday) and Sunday for games against the Omaha Lancers and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Wednesday's game against the Western Conference leading Lancers begins at 7:05 PM and Sunday's game against Cedar Rapids will take place at 5:05 PM. After this weekend, the Herd have just four home games remaining during the regular season (Mar. 30 & 31, April 13 & 14). Sioux Falls enters this week 10 points out of the final playoff spot with nine games remaining.

24 former players to skate in NCAA hockey tournament

The Stampede will be well represented during the 2012 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The Herd has at least one player on 12 of the 16 teams for a total of 24 former players participating. The tournament begins Friday with games at four regional sites: St. Paul, Minn., Green Bay, WI., Bridgeport, Conn., and Worcester, Mass.

Broadhurst signs with Chicago Blackhawks

Former Stampede star forward Terry Broadhurst signed with the Chicago Blackhawks yesterday. The Orland Park, Illinois native just completed his junior year at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Broadhurst played in Sioux Falls from 2007 to 2009 and was the Herd's leading scorer during the 2008-09 season with 58 points. His younger brother, Alex, is a draft pick of the Blackhawks and currently skates with the Green Bay Gamblers.

Williams named JuniorHockey.com Goaltender of the Week

Jay Williams has been named JuniorHockey.com Goaltender of the Week. Williams turned aside all 45 shots faced during regulation in overtime in a 1-0 shootout loss last Saturday in Sioux City. The only puck to get by him was in the fourth round of the shootout.

Williams has now blanked Sioux City in back-to-back games and stopped 75 consecutive shots against the Musketeers. He now has three shutouts on the season. The McLean, VA native has already committed to Miami for next fall.

Tip-A-Stampede set for March 27

The 12th annual "Tip-A-Stampede Night" will take place at both Applebee's locations (East 10th Street & the new Applebee's located in The Empire Mall) from 5-8 PM. Players will be waiting on tables and collecting tips that benefit's the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Sioux Falls!

Players will also be mingling with fans, signing autographs and posing for photos during the event. The Stampede will post a list of where the players will be appearing on the Herd's website later this week, so be sure to check out sfstampede.com to find out where your favorite players will be!

Stampede launch new mobile app!

The Stampede have launched a brand new mobile application for the iPhone and Android. The Stampede are the first sports organization in Sioux Falls to launch their own app.

The Herd have teamed up with IMED Consulting in Sioux Falls to create the app which will bring fans closer than ever to their favorite team right from their phone.

The FREE app features 14 different sections, including news, events, photos and push-notifications. The push notifications will alert you on any breaking Stampede news as well as game reminders and post-game score alerts.

The app will also bring you directly to the Stampede's mobile website as well as Facebook and, coming soon, a brand new Twitter feed!
