Idaho Stampede News Release
All-star game a success
The Treasure Valley deserves a pat on the back. Not only did the community show up in good numbers but also showed support of players that are normally considered the opposition when they are in town.
The attendance was 3,883 and the response we received about the game and the preliminary events was predominately positive. Media coverage was excellent and all outlets were willing to work together to generate unique stories throughout the two day event. Additionally, 25 NBA scouts and 10 general managers and directors from the Asociacion de Clubs de Baloncesto (the professional league in Spain) attended. The theme from these attendees was that this was one of the better all-star games they have attended.
It's a long tough road ahead
The Stampede have returned home from two games on the road against the Eastern Conference's two best teams. And it doesn't get any easier from here. Idaho plays 7 of its next 10 games on the road and 8 of the next 12 games are against either the Eastern Conference leading Lightning or the Western Conference leading Sun Kings.
Quarter points key to championship
The CBA league office has announced the format for this year's post-season playoff structure. To see the press release, visit www.cbahoopsonline.com. The gist is that 3 teams will qualify from each conference and will play one game against each qualifying team from the other conference. The two teams with the highest quarter point total after the three non-conference games will then play a best of three series to determine the champion (quarter points will not be a factor in championship). The format is unique but reinforces the importance of quarter points.
Jackson stays hot; Williams finding his spot
David Jackson has stepped it up a notch. Over the last 10 games, Jackson has averaged 24.5 ppg and has averaged 27.4 ppg in the last five games while dishing out 5.0 apg. The all-star that almost wasn't continues to light it up from behind the arc as well, shooting 48.8 pct. (21-43 in the last five) and also winning the 3-point competition during the CBA All-Star Classic. This past week, Jackson averaged 29.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 5.0 apg and has climbed to seventh in the league in scoring. He is also second in free-throw percentage at 0.916 (87-95).
Eric Williams has also found his way within the Stampede system. The former Sun King, who also played 38 games for the Stampede last year, is coming off of two consecutive double-doubles averaging 24.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg this past week.
10-day contracts up for Davis, Dickens
The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers did not re-sign former Stampede players Josh Davis and Kaniel Dickens after both of their 10-day contracts ran out this past week.
Davis played in one out of five games for the Suns, scoring 4 points and grabbing 1 rebound. Davis' future is unclear at this point. His CBA rights still belong to the Stampede however, the last time Davis became available he opted to stay in Denver for work outs and was then signed shortly thereafter by the Suns.

Yakama Sun Kings (17-10, 3.9 ave) versus Idaho Stampede (15-13, 3.7 ave)
It is pretty simple this week: Idaho vs. Yakama. Idaho plays host to the Western Conference leaders on Tuesday and then head to Yakima for a pair on Friday and Saturday. Both teams have lost two straight on the road. Idaho has faired well against Yakama this season with a 3-1 record and will get to know this remodeled Sun Kings team over the next few weeks, playing them seven out of the next twelve games, four on the road and three at home.
The last two times these teams played, Ronny Turiaf was in the line-up. Turiaf has since signed with the Lakers and gone also from the Sun Kings line-up are Etdrick Bohannon, Geno Carlisle (now at Sioux Falls), Jeremee McGuire (Dakota), and Eric Williams who is now with the Stampede.
Of the players remaining, Antwain Barbour leads the way averaging 21.8 ppg and 6.5 rpg in the four previous contests. Cheyne Gadson has also played well with 16.0 ppg and 6.0 apg. Both were all-stars at this year's Athletes.com CBA All-Star Classic.
The Stampede are also missing a couple of impact players from the previous match-ups; Matt Freije and Jermaine Boyette combined for 34.8 ppg and 13.2 rpg against the Sun Kings. But the core of the Stampede still exists. David Jackson is averaging 18.8 ppg against the Sun Kings and Eric Chenowith is averaging 13.5 rpg.
