Idaho Stampede News Release
Chenowith Honored as Player of the Week
Eric Chenowith was chosen as the CBA Player of the Week for his performances during last week's Stampede games. During the week he averaged 11 points and 18.3 rebounds. Of those rebounds, 17 were on the defensive glass which helped keep the Stampede opponents from getting extra second chance points. During the week, the Stampede went 3-0.
Josh's Journey
Josh Davis has become very familiar with airports and bus stations around the United States over the last two months. His most recent journey: Yakima, Washington to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Davis, after playing in Boise, Idaho for the Stampede during this Monday night's game, boarded a bus with the rest of the team that night on their way to Yakima where he assumed he would be playing the next night. Upon his arrival, Davis learned that he would be called up by the Houston Rockets. There were no flights available on Tuesday night that would get him to Houston for their game against the Utah Jazz so instead he jumped on a flight Wednesday morning that would take him to Oklahoma City where the New Orleans Hornets were hosting the Rockets.
It has been a mass-transit type of season so far for Davis and this past week's traveling is just the tip of the iceberg. The following is a time line/destination/team recap of where he has been so far this year.
October 2: The Milwaukee Bucks sign Davis
November 24: Milwaukee waives Davis
December 2: Idaho Stampede sign Davis. Davis arrives in Boise at approximately 11:00 a.m.
December 2: Davis learns that Milwaukee wants to re-sign him. Davis leaves Boise at approximately 3:30 p.m. for Milwaukee
December 5: Milwaukee re-signs Davis. Idaho puts Davis on Inactive (NBA) Reserve
December 6: Davis and Milwaukee travel to Philadelphia to play the 76ers
December 8: Davis and Milwaukee travel back to Milwaukee
December 11: Davis and Milwaukee travel to New York to play the Knicks
December 13: Davis and Milwaukee travel back to Milwaukee
December 15: Milwaukee waives Davis
December 19: Idaho places Davis on the Active Roster and he travels to Boise
December 23: Davis is invited to a tryout at the Houston Rockets facility. Flies to Houston that afternoon
December 24: Davis tries out with the Rockets
December 25: Davis returns to Boise
December 26: Davis plays for Stampede against Yakama. Davis and team bus to Yakima
December 27: Davis is contacted by Houston
December 28, 2005: Davis travels to Oklahoma City and is signed by Houston
Will this be the end of the travels for Josh Davis or just the beginning? In the CBA and NBA one never knows. What we do know is that Davis is getting the opportunity that every CBA player is dreaming of. From the technical standpoint, we understand that this move by Houston is being done as part of an injury disposition they will Davis until January 6. At that point, decisions by the Rockets must be made as to their future with Davis. Another important date is January 10, when all NBA contracts become guarantee for the season. This is when the popular 10-day contracts will begin.
