
Stampede Sweep Ice, Host Des Moines Tomorrow

STAMPEDE UPDATE: The Sioux Falls Stampede earned a weekend sweep of the Indiana Ice at the Sioux Falls Arena. On Friday, the Stampede set a franchise record for most goals in a game with 11 in their 11-3 thumping of Indiana. Jake Drewiske and Corey Tropp led the way with a goal and two assists each while Drew Fisher added two goals of his own. Max Strang turned aside 26 of 29 shots to earn his 8th win of the season.
On Saturday, the Stampede completed the sweep with a 2-0 victory. Matt Lundin earned his second shutout of the season, stopping all 27 shots faced. Lundin is now third overall amongst USHL goaltenders with a 16-10-3 record, a 2.50 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Fisher and Dan Sexton provided the lone goals in the victory for the Stampede as they improved to 24-14-3 and a three-way tie for second place. The Herd trail Sioux City and Omaha by just four points for first place in the West Division. The Stampede are now 14-3-1 since the winter break.

Tuesday 2/20 vs Des Moines 7:05 PM:
With the West Division standings a log jam, every game becomes increasingly important and none is bigger than tomorrow's (Tuesday) home game versus the Des Moines Buccaneers. The Stampede are currently tied with the Bucs for second place and need to keep pace with Omaha and Sioux City. The Herd have faired well against the Bucs this season, going 3-0-1 in four meetings. The Stampede topped the Buccaneers 4-2 on February 10th in Des Moines where Corey Tropp led the way with two goals. Tropp has five goals in four games against Des Moines this season. This will mark the final time that the Stampede will host the Bucs during the regular season. The Stampede will travel to Des Moines on March 16 and 24.
Friday 2/23 @ Sioux City 7:35 PM
The Stampede will be looking for revenge when they face the Musketeers in Sioux City Friday night. The Musketeers rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third period and defeated the Stampede 5-4 in overtime on February 11th in Sioux Falls. The Stampede are 2-3-1 against the Muskies this season. Sioux City enters this week in a first place tie with Omaha, just four points ahead of the Stampede.

MURRAY SHUTTING DOWN THE OHL:
Former Stampede standout goaltender John Murray is making a name for himself in the Ontario Hockey League. He ranks second overall amongst all goalies in the OHL for the Kitchener Rangers with a 34-8-1-1 record, a 2.51 GAA and a .912 save percentage. He leads the OHL in shutouts with five and is second in wins with 34. Murray, who was ranked 15th overall by NHL Central Scouting, was also selected to participate in the OHL All-Star Game.
MALL GOLF TOURNAMENT FEB. 23:
The Stampede will be hosting a MALL GOLF Tournament this FRIDAY, February 23rd at 3:30 PM. This will be a 9-Hole game of Miniature Golf held at The Empire Mall. The cost to play is $50 for a Foursome Team with 100% of the event proceeds raised directly benefiting SPECIAL OLYMPICS SOUTH DAKOTA...
