Indiana Ice News Release
WEEKEND RE-CAP: The Ice went 0-2-0 over the weekend in a two-game series against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
Friday: Indiana slipped to a 10-0 deficit early into the third period before scoring three goals to finish with an 11-3 loss. Indiana surrendered eight power play goals on the night and scored two power play goals themselves. The Ice was out shot 55 to 29 in the contest and the two teams combined for 130 penalty minutes. Saturday: The Ice was defeated again by the Stampede but by a much smaller margin of 2-0. Indiana rebounded to outshoot the Sioux Falls by a 27 to 24 margin but was stoned by Stampede goaltender Matt Lundin who posted the shutout.
EAST DIVISION CLASH: Indiana looks to gain valuable points in the East Division standings this week with games against division rivals Cedar Rapids, Green Bay and Ohio. The Ice, who is 8-5-2 this season against this week's opponents, sit nine points behind Cedar Rapids in the standings and is ten points ahead of Green Bay. As for the players, Garrett Roe and John Kemp have combined for 61 points against East Division foes this year.
CONSECO CLOSE CALLS: The Ice is 0-1-2 at Conseco Fieldhouse this season with Saturday night's affair being the downtown season finale. While Indiana has failed to secure a win at the Fieldhouse, they have managed to excite the crowds. Two of the games were one-point affairs which ended in either overtime or a shootout and the other would have been a one-point contest if it weren't for an empty net Green Bay goal with under a second to go.
SONG OF THE WEST: Christian recording artist Matthew West will be holding a pre-game concert before Saturday's "Faith, Hope and Love" night when the Ice take on the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets. 1000 Generations will open the pre-game festivities that will also include a full set from Matthew West and a Ministry Fair. It all kicks off at 3:45 and the game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
ICE NOTES: Eric Miller has points in four of his last five games (2G, 3A).... Garrett Roe has 14 points (6G, 8A) in his last ten games....With a plethora of penalty minutes this past weekend forward Ron Cramer and defenseman Ryan Scott now rank first and third in Ice history for all time USHL penalty minutes in a single season with 139 and 127 respectively....The Ice is just 7-13-2 all-time in the month of February.
