Stampede Earn Win Number 30 With Balanced Attack

OREM, Utah, March 15, 2008 - All five Idaho starters scored in double figures as the Stampede became the first NBA Development League team to reach 30 victories this season with a 93-88 victory over the Utah Flash Saturday night at the McKay Events Center.
The league best 30-10 Stampede recorded their fourth consecutive victory, all four coming at the expense of the Flash, and travel to Anaheim Friday. The Flash fall to 18-22 and take a five-game losing streak to Bakersfield to take on the Jam Sunday.
"I thought we came out and tried to do the right thing early in the game." Flash coach Brad Jones said. "But for some reason we just ran out of gas."
James Lang recorded 10 of his 14 points in the first half to help the Flash take a 48-45 lead into the break, but the Stampede responded in the second half, starting the third quarter on an 8-2 run to take the lead for the first time in the contest.
Idaho used an aggressive offensive to attack the rim which led to 41 free-throw attempts (31 made), compared to only 17 attempts (15 made) from the charity stripe for the Flash.
"That (free-throws) was a point of emphasis, getting their bigs out of the paint and then attacking them." Stampede coach Brian Gates said.
After losing a 10-point, second quarter lead, the Flash rallied late in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 81-80, but the Stampede clamped down on defense and executed a 9-3 run in the ensuing three minutes to put the game away.
"Getting stops was our focus at the end of the game, and with Utah that was tough." Gates said.
The Flash, who have been among league leaders in offensive rebounds all season, were limited to only six offensive boards and managed just 36 total rebounds in the game, six boards below their season average.
Randy Livingston led the Stampede with 22 points, including a perfect 12-of-12 shooting from the free throw line. Jason Ellis finished with 20 points while Roberto Bergersen chipped in 17. Cory Violette and Luke Jackson each added 11 points in the Stampede victory.
Boston Celtics assignee Gabe Pruitt led all scorers and the Flash with 25 points. Morris Almond, on assignment from the Utah Jazz, added 12 points in the loss. Kevin Kruger finished with 10, while James Lang and Andre Ingram added 14 and 12 points, respectively, off the Flash bench.
