
Stampede continue road trip this weekend

STAMPEDE UPDATE: The Stampede were on the road both Friday and Saturday night, playing in Sioux City and Waterloo.
Friday, February 20th at Sioux City: Trailing 3-0 late in the first period, Jeff Prough tallied his 8th goal of the season at 17:54 to make it 3-1. Matt Ford and Drew Sando both tallied assists on the goal. Sioux City would go on to score two more times in the second period and captured a 5-1 win over the Stampede. Domenic Maiani lead the way for the Musketeers with a goal and an assist while Matt Hartman added two helpers. Kasey Moreland played between the pipes for Sioux Falls stopping 38 shots on the night.
Saturday, February 21st at Waterloo: Down 2-0 midway through the first period, Greg Costa scored his 3rd of the season at 10:13 to make it a 2-1 game. Brandon Harrington collected his second assist of the season. Waterloo scored twice in the second and twice in the third en route to a 6-1 victory over Sioux Falls. Jake Schwan led the Black Hawks with two goals and two assists. Craig Vardy stopped 28 of 34 shots between the pipes for the Stampede.
UP NEXT: The Stampede will continue their five-game road trip starting Friday with a game in St. Louis versus the Heartland Eagles. On Saturday, the Stampede will play in Danville, IL and on Saturday the Stampede will visit Green Bay to play the Gamblers. Game times on Friday and Saturday are 7:05 PM and 4:05 PM on Sunday.
EAGLES UPDATE: The Eagles have won just one of their past seven games and have lost four straight heading into this weekend. Last Friday, the Eagles fell to Cedar Rapids 5-3. Corey Elkins recorded a goal and an assist in the loss for St. Louis. On Saturday, the Tri-City Storm upended the Eagles 5-1. The Eagles are currently are 13-30-6 on the season and in sixth place in the East Division. Colin Vock leads the team in scoring with 31 points on 12 goals and 19 assists. Steve Eastman is second with 26 points (12g, 14a). Michael Zacharias has seen the majority of the time in net, collecting a 9-17-5 record and a 3.83 GAA. Zacharias also posts an impressive saves percentage of 90%. The Eagles have compiled an 8-10-5 record at home this season.
WINGS UPDATE: The Wings are 4-2-1 in their last seven games, but did drop two games over the weekend. On Friday, the Wings fell 2-1 in overtime against Chicago. Tomas Klempa had a powerplay goal while Justin Tobe made 18 saves in the loss. On Sunday, Cedar Rapids topped the Wings 7-2. Green Bay was 3-for-4 on the powerplay and out-shot the Wings 36-31. The Wings are currently 21-20-7 on the year and in fourth place in the East Division. Bryan Marshall currently leads the team in scoring with 52 points on 22 goals and 30 assists. Justin Tobe has guided the Wings in net, collecting an 18-6-6 record and a 2.74 GAA.
GAMBLERS UPDATE: The Green Bay Gamblers are making a push for the playoffs and are 3-1-1 in their last five games. On Friday, the Gamblers defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers 4-1. Ryan Carter, Sean Garrity, and Billy Smith all tallied a goal and an assist in the win while Troy Davenport turned away 30 shots in the win. On Saturday, the Gamblers topped Danville 7-2. Mitch Ganzak and Klye Klubertanz both tallied a goal and two assists while Troy Davenport earned his 17th win of the season, turning aside 29 shots in the win. Last night, the Gamblers fell 4-3 in overtime to the Chicago Steel. Mitch Ganzak had a goal and an assist in the loss. The Gamblers are currently five points back of fourth place Danville for the final playoff spot in the East. Jimmy Kilpatrick leads the Gamblers in scoring with 34 points on 18 goals and 16 assists. Troy Davenport is 17-15-3 on the year between the pipes, posting a 2.72 GAA and a 91.3% saves percentage.
TEAM LEADERS: Matt Ford leads the Stampede in points (48) and goals scored (22) while Jim McKenzie currently leads the Stampede in assists (28), plus/minus (plus-10) and shots (158).
PLAYHOUSE PROMENADE: The fourth edition of the Playhouse Promenade is now on display at The Emprie Mall (JC Penny wing). There are four new life-like playhouses on display through the month of February and will be sold by a silent bid. Interested home owners can pick up a bid sheet at the playhouses or through the Stampede website (www.sfstampede.com).
Bids will be accepted until 6PM on Monday, March 1st. As of 12PM on Monday, February 23rd, bids were: $3,000 for the Light House and Log Cabin; $2,500 for the Gingerbread House and $1,500 on the Old Dutch Playhouse. All proceeds of the playhouse go to four local charites.
POSTER NIGHT: Friday, March 5th is Sioux Valley Hospital and The Empire Mall "Team Poster Night" presented by KELO-AM Radio and KELOLAND-TV. Every fan in attendance will receive a colorful Stampede Team Poster (11" x 17" size) prior to the game.
