
Wings head coach resigns

Danville Wings Head Coach Tom "Chico" Adrahtas resigned as head coach effective immediately. Due to personal health concerns, Adrahtas felt it was in the best interest of the team that he officially step down so the team can focus on the remainder of the season. Adrahtas is currently still undergoing medical testing to determine his health status. Adrahtas has been with the organization since 1999. Chico Adrahtas stated in his resignation letter to Wings owner Lou Mervis , " I am very proud of the time I've spent here, and I walk away knowing I had a positive influence on every young man who wore the Wings' crest, and grateful for the opportunity you provided for me to do so".
Tobe's 5th shutout leads Wings
February 19, 2004 - Justin Tobe stopped all 15 shots he faced for his league leading 5th shutout as the Wings coasted to a 4-0 win over St. Louis. Ryan Hoehn got the Wings going early on his 6th goal of the year just 23 seconds in the contest. Bryan Marshall scored an unassisted goal at the end of the period to give the Wings a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. After a scoreless second period, Danville's Alex Foster and Nik Sellers both scored in the third to seal the win.
The Wings are now 21-19-6, good for third place in the East division, 1 point ahead of Waterloo. They face Chicago this Friday at home before heading out to Green Bay on Saturday.
Wings lose a pair over weekend
February 23, 2004 - On Friday night the Wings hosted division leading Chicago and came away with a tough 2-1 overtime loss. Tomas Klempa notched his 13th goal of the year on the powerplay halfway through the first period to give the Wings a 1-0 lead. Chicago got the equalizer at the end of the second period. The teams remained tied throughout overtime and in the shootout the Steel put a pair by Wings goalie Justin Tobe while the Wings couldn't dent the Steel netminder. On Saturday the Wings traveled up to Green Bay and lost 7-2. The Gamblers scored 5 unanswered goals before the Wings Cody Lampl scored his second goal of the year in the third. Bryan Marshall scored his 22nd goal also in the third but it was to late for the Wings.
The Wings are now 21-20-7 and are tied with Waterloo with 49 points for third in the division. They host Des Moines and Sioux Falls this weekend before heading out for three road games starting Sunday at Chicago.
Wings weekly alumni update
February 23, 2004 - Last week in the college ranks saw Dov Grumet-Morris pick up a win for Harvard. Other alum's scoring were JR Corkery (UConn) A; Aaron Clarke (Niagara) G; Jason Tejchma (UMass-Lowell) G; and Lukas Dora (Denver) G.
In the pro's Jake Ortmeyer (Wheeling-ECHL) had an assist and Rae Metz (Texas-ECHL) had a pair of helpers.
