Idaho Stampede News Release
Boise, ID (October 12, 2005)-The Idaho Stampede today named Mark Snider as radio play-by-play announcer for the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) team's home games when it opens the 2005-06 season in November. All Idaho Stampede games will once again be broadcast on Classic Country KFXD (630 AM).
Snider was the host of the Idaho Stampede Radio Show last season on KTIK Radio. The program featured interviews with Head Coach Joe Wolf, Stampede players, CBA Commissioner Gary Hunter and others from the world of professional basketball. Snider has also called play-by-play for the Stampede when filling in for former Stampede announcer Scott Johnson. Johnson plans to move to Phoenix, Arizona, later this year and was unavailable to the Stampede this season.
"Mark has done a great job for the Stampede in the past, both with the radio show and calling games whenever needed. We feel fortunate to have him as our radio play-by-play announcer this season," said Stampede President John Brunelle. "Mark will pick up where Scott left off, and I know that listeners will enjoy his call of the games."
An Oregon State University graduate, Snider has previously done play-by-play of Stampede games and high school football as well as color commentary on Boise State University football and basketball and Treasure Valley area high school football broadcasts. In addition, he has hosted the Idaho Steelheads hockey talk show on ESPN Radio 1350 KTIK The Ticket. In college, Snider did play-by-play for a number of Oregon State intercollegiate sports including basketball, baseball and volleyball.
A broadcast veteran, he was news and sports director at KAST AM/FM in Astoria, Oregon, and a reporter and fill-in sports anchor at KTVB-TV, the NBC affiliate in Boise. Snider has reported for ESPN Radio, Associated Press Radio Sports, WFAN in New York, WMAQ Radio in Chicago, and Sports Radio 560 WQAM in Miami. He has also worked as a producer for the San Francisco Giants Radio Network and KNBR Radio in San Francisco.
The Stampede begin their eighth season-of-play November 19th at their new home-the Bank of America Centre in Downtown Boise. Individuals and businesses interested in purchasing season tickets may contact the Idaho Stampede office at (208) 388-HOOP (4667) or visit www.idahostampede.com.
