Stajcer Becker Shoes Attacker Of The Week

The Owen Sound Attack named rookie goaltender Scott Stajcer the Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week for the week ending February 2nd, 2009.

The Attack started off their week on Wednesday night with a home and home against the Barrie Colts. Owen Sound took a 1-0 lead into the second period but the Colts managed to tie the game 3:05 into the frame. Stajcer shut the door for the remainder of the game, stopping 51 of 52 shots, including a penalty shot in the dying seconds to preserve the 3 goal lead and the victory for the Attack.

Thursday night, the Attack was in Barrie for the back end of the home and home vs. the Colts. Stajcer was up to his tricks again, turning aside an impressive 46 of 47 shots in a 3-1 victory and once again being named the games 1st star.

Saturday's game against the Sudbury Wolves was delayed over an hour and a half but that didn't stop the Stajcer and the Attack from coming out firing on all cylinders. Akim Aliu lead the Wolves to a 2-1 lead early, but the Attack fought back and scored twice more in just over 6 minutes. Stajcer and the Attack would score 5 unanswered goals in the third period en route to a 9-4 victory. Stajcer made 33 saves in the victory, all of which when the score was tight and was named the Kelsey's player of the game as selected by the fans.

Stajcer, one of the top ranked goalies in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft finished the week with 3 wins, a 2.00 GAA and a .956 save percentage.

Honorable mention goes to Joey Hishon (1g,5a), Garrett Wilson (4g,2a, 1st Career Hat Trick) and Andrew Wilkins (2g,2a).
