St. Louis Steamers News Release

Phillips Continues to Gobble Up Accomplishments: The Major Indoor Soccer League has awarded Steamers' goalkeeper Brett Phillips with the Goalkeeper of the Week Award. It is the fifth time this season that Phillips has been given the award and it goes with his Goalkeeper of the Month Award for the month of February. Phillips received it after his eight save performance in the Steamers' 5-2 win over the Philadelphia KiXX on March 11th. Phillips stopped eight of the ten shots he faced to earn his league leading 15th win on the season.

It Remains Home Sweet Home: The Steamers still enjoy the only perfect record at home in the Major Indoor Soccer League this season. So far, the Steamers are 11-0 at Savvis with four more home games remaining on the schedule. Their next home game is Saturday, March 25th against the Milwaukee Wave. It's an afternoon start at 1:05 p.m. The closest margin of victory was a 9-7 win over the Baltimore Blast on Feb. 20th. As far as the defense at home goes, the team gives up less than 3 goals per game while scoring over 7 goals per on offense.

Steamers in the Playoffs: Even before their last game Saturday afternoon, the Steamers knew they owned a ticket into the MISL Championship Series come April. The series will consist of the top four teams in the final MISL regular season standings with a semi-final round of the first place team vs. the fourth place team while then matching up the second and third place teams. It appears the Steamers will take on the Chicago Storm, California Cougars or the Philadelphia KiXX. The Steamers, along with the Baltimore Blast and Milwaukee Wave, are comfortably in front of the other three.

Reiniger is Closing in on Milestone: The 600 goal mark is even closer for forward Joe Reiniger. The Collinsville, IL native is nearing in on 600 career professional indoor soccer goals for a career. He is currently at 599 goals. Being from the St. Louis area, he would like to be able to do it at home. He scored a goal in the Steamers' 8-5 loss Mar. 3rd, inching him even closer to the milestone. It was his first goal since Jan. 29th against the California Cougars.

The Week Ahead: The Steamers will be playing in front of the home crowd for the first time since Feb. 20th when they take on the Philadelphia KiXX on Saturday night. It will be the first time the Steamers will be playing the KiXX at Savvis since the home opener all the way back on Nov. 26th. The Steamers won that game 8-4. The last time these two played was back on Feb. 18th with St. Louis again winning, this time 8-6.
