KiXX vs. Steamers

2005-06 Series: 0-4 (home 0-2, away 0-2) Overall: 4-8 (home 2-4, away 2-4)

The Philadelphia KiXX and the St. Louis Steamers met for the first time in franchise history on November 14, 2003 ... the club defeated the Steamers, 7-3, in that contest and split the series (2-2) in each of the past two seasons ... the Steamers, who earned an 8-4 win in the first meeting between the two clubs this season on November 26, are led by former KiXX player/coach Omid Namazi ... six different St. Louis scorers recorded multiple points in the contest, while forward John Barry Nusum was the lone KiXX representative to register more than one point ... veteran defender Genoni Martinez led all players with four points (two goals, two assists), as the Steamers edged past Philadelphia, 6-5, in overtime on January 7 ... KiXX defenders Drew Kopp and Pat Morris each notched a pair of points ... Martinez again proved to be too much for Philadelphia, connecting on a game-high five points including the game-winning goal late in the fourth quarter of the Steamers' 8-6 win on February 18 ... in the most recent meeting on March 11, the KiXX fell 5-2 at the Savvis Center ... Namazi led the Cleveland Force team that knocked-off Philadelphia in the semifinals last season, but then fell to the Milwaukee Wave in the two-game Finals ... with Cleveland becoming inactive this season, Namazi was hired to replace player/coach Daryl Doran who is now listed as the club's Vice President of Corporate Sales and Alumni Relations ... former Kansas City Head Coach Zoran Savic also joined the Steamers this past off-season as the team's President.

KiXX vs. Wave

2005-06 Series: 1-4 (home 1-2, away 0-2) Overall: 17-26 (home 14-7, away 3-19)

Sunday's contest will be the final regular-season meeting between the Wave and Philadelphia this season ... in their last head-to-head meeting on February 25, the KiXX snapped a franchise-worst nine-game losing streak with a 7-6 overtime victory at the Wachovia Spectrum, courtesy of a career-best four-goal performance from Northeast Catholic graduate Pat Morris ... the Wave, under the direction of Head Coach Keith Tozer, earned a pair of victories, 10-5 and 7-4, respectively in a home-and-home series on January 20 and 21 ... Greg Howes and Todd Dusosky led Milwaukee on January 20 with three goals, while defender Drew Kopp led Philadelphia with the first hat trick of his six-year career ... Nine different scorers chipped for the Wave on January 21 ... veteran forward Goran Vasic paced the KiXX with three points ... Milwaukee defeated the club, 6-3, in the first match-up at the Wachovia Spectrum on November 19 ... Dusosky led all scorers with three points, all assists, while six different scorers struck for Philadelphia ... Dusosky added another three points (goal, two assists) in the 5-3 Wave victory at the U.S. Cellular Arena on December 9 ... 2005 MISL Rookie of the Year John Barry Nusum led Philadelphia with a pair of goals, while Morris accounted for the team's only other score ... Milwaukee earned the top spot in the playoffs last season and knocked-off former KiXX player/coach Omid Namazi and the Cleveland Force in the two-game MISL Championship, their fourth League Championship in franchise history ... Milwaukee won the season series in 2004-05, four games to two.

CMN Auction Night: The Philadelphia KiXX will hold their Fourth Annual Sports Memorabilia Auction, benefiting Children's Miracle Network at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on Saturday, March 18 ... a silent auction of memorabilia from the area sports teams and establishments will be held throughout the contest's first half with the winners claiming their prizes in the third quarter ... some of the items available include a pair of 2006-07 KiXX season tickets, a 12-person suite for a 2006-07 home game, a full dance-team autographed calendar, an autographed Shawn Boney bobblehead and various items from the Philadelphia Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, Phantoms, Soul and Wings ... a live auction featuring game-worn autographed jerseys from each of the KiXX members will immediately follow the conclusion of the action. Veteran auctioneer Ed Barkowitz and Dave Pace of Pace Auction Group have voluntarily offered their services ... game-time at the Wachovia Spectrum is slated for 7:05 pm ET with the doors opening at 6:00 pm ET.

Television Broadcasts: The 2005-06 KiXX television package continues versus the St. Louis Steamers on Saturday, March 18 ... the team enters the contest with a 13-8 record when competing in a televised game over the past four seasons ... each telecast broadcasts live on CN8, The Comcast Network which currently reaches 7.1 million households from Maine to Virginia ... veteran Bob Lampinen will provide the play-by-play, while Jimmy Harrison will serve as the color analyst:

Playoff Scenario: With the KiXX falling in St. Louis on March 11, three of the four available postseason positions have been filled ... the Steamers previously secured a spot, while both the Baltimore Blast and the defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Milwaukee Wave were assured of a playoff appearance with the KiXX loss ... the fourth and final position remains up for grabs with all of the three clubs alive and able to make a run down the stretch ... the Chicago Storm currently holds the seed, but Philadelphia and the California Cougars trailing close behind ... the KiXX rank fifth, trailing Chicago by three games with the Cougars hot on their heels only an additional one-half game behind ... the KiXX have qualified for the playoffs in each of their previous nine years of existence.

Familiar Face: On March 18, Philadelphia will be squaring-off versus the St. Louis Steamers for the fifth time this season and the second in as many weeks with a very familiar face on the visitors bench ... former KiXX player/coach Omid Namazi has guided St. Louis to their current position atop the MISL standings after leading the Cleveland Force to the League Finals last season ... Namazi, who currently remains as the franchise leader in assists, became Philadelphia's second head coach midway through the 1998-99 season ... after guiding the KiXX to a League Championship in 2001-02 and a 83-54 overall record, he left the club just four games into the 2002-03 campaign for other endeavors ... Namazi returned to the MISL after a one-year hiatus and took over the reigns in Cleveland for the final stretch of the 2003-04 season ... the KiXX are 0-4 versus their former player/coach this season and 6-8 overall.

Steamers 5, KiXX 2 (3/11): Midfielder Sterling Wescott connected on the only score of the opening quarter of play, registering a score on a pass from teammate Reiniger at 7:46 of the frame to give the hosting Steamers an early 1-0 advantage. Ptah Myers knotted the score, 1-1, with an unassisted tally at 2:15 of the second stanza, but Carlos Farias responded to regain the one-goal lead for St. Louis at 5:22. Defender Drew Kopp found the back of the net on a feed from Northeast Catholic alum Pat Morris to again knot the score even, 2-2, at 8:32 of the third period. The Steamers would record the game's final three goals to earn a 5-2 victory.
