St. Louis Steamers News Release

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Steamers goalkeeper Brett Phillips continues to collect awards handed out by Major Indoor Soccer League. This afternoon, the MISL announced that Phillips has won the Goalkeeper of the Week Award. It's the fifth time this season Phillips has received the award, and it also goes along with his Goalkeeper of the Month Award for the month of February. This week's honor is following an eight save performance in the Steamers 5-2 win over the Philadelphia KiXX.

Phillips, 37, is perhaps enjoying his finest season as a pro. The veteran leads the MISL in wins with 15 and in goals against average with a 4.72 GAA. He also leads all MISL goalkeepers with 1,183 minutes played. While the Steamers defense held down the KiXX offensive attack, it was Phillips who was the last line of defense in net for St. Louis and turned away 80 percent of the shots he faced. His 15th win is the 17th on the season for the Steamers and it places them two-and-a-half games in front of the second place Milwaukee Wave. The Steamers have already clinched a spot in the MISL Championship Series.

Phillips's season has also included an MISL All-Star selection, a 4-0 shut out over the Chicago Storm back on Feb. 4th. Phillips was also given the MISL Goalkeeper of the Week on Nov. 28th, Dec. 19th, Dec. 27th and Feb. 6th. He will have the opportunity to add to his league-leading 15 wins this weekend when the Steamers travel to Philadelphia to take on the KiXX for the second straight game this Saturday (Mar. 18th) at the Wachovia Spectrum and then again on Sunday (Mar. 19th) against the Storm at Chicago's UIC Pavilion.
