Game Highlights
Quarter 1: Highlanders 27, Edge 26
The game started off fast-paced, with each team trading baskets throughout the quarter. Neither team could find a way to gain a big lead, making it possible for someone to take control of the game in the second quarter. Highlanders guard Deshaunt Walker displayed his offensive skill, finishing with 9 points in the quarter.
Quarter 2: Highlanders 51, Edge 51
The St. John's Edge had a tremendous start to the second quarter by going on a 13-0 run. After this run, the Highlanders stepped up and went on a 24-12 run to finish off the quarter, and get the game all tied up. Walker finished the half with 22 points, on 73% shooting. Both Cape Breton and St. John's had their runs, but the game was still up for grabs.
Quarter 3: Highlanders 73, Saint John's 78
The Edge had a good start to the half, and were able to get a lead. Throughout the majority of the quarter, they managed to maintain their lead, and exchanged buckets with the Highlanders. Deshaunt Walker went down with an injury and couldn't keep playing, so Cape Breton had to look for someone to step up and fill his absence.
Quarter 4: Highlanders 95, Edge 102
The fourth quarter was very similar to the third, with both teams trading baskets, and the Edge keeping their lead. Cape Breton couldn't spark up a run, and Saint John's would end up coming out with the win on the road. For Cape Breton, losing Walker hurt their offence, and the Edge were forcing the Highlanders to take difficult shots. Cape Breton drops their first game of the new year and will look to get back in the win column when they host the Island Storm on Thursday.
