
St. Ivany & Walker Named to U.S. Junior Select Team

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede are proud to announce that defenseman Jack St. Ivany (EYE-vuh-nee) forward Nolan Walker have been named to the 2017 U.S. Junior Select Team that will compete at the 2017 World Junior A Challenge, December 10-16 in Truto, Nova Scotia. In addition, Stampede assistant coach Nick Oliver has been named to the coaching staff. Team USA took Gold in 2016 and have won seven titles in 10 years.
St. Ivany is currently tied with Reid Stefanson for the most points on the team with 10 (1g, 9a) and ranks second amongst all defenseman in the UHSL in scoring. The Manhattan Beach, CA native is in his second season with the Stampede and has already tied his total point table from last season in which he tallied 10 points in 52 games. The 6-foot-2, 201-pound defenseman has already committed to play Division I college hockey at Yale University when his USHL playing days are completed.
Walker ranks fourth on the Stampede in scoring with nine points (4g, 5a) in 13 games this season. The 19-year-old forward spent last season at Culver Military Academy where he registered 37 points (16g, 21a) in 30 games. He skated in five games for the Stampede last season, posting six points (3g, 3a). The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Anchorage, AK native is committed to St. Cloud State University for the 2018-19 season.
Oliver is in his third season as assistant coach and director of scouting for the Stampede. The Roseau, MN native spent four seasons at St. Cloud State University under former Stampede head coach Bob Motzko while serving as captain his senior season. In addition to helping the Stampede coaching staff on-ice, he serves as the head scout for the club and plays an integral role in the selection of Stampede players during the draft and tryout camp.
Oliver will work with P.K. O'Handley (Waterloo Black Hawks) who will serve as head coach of the club while Anthony Noreen (Tri-City) and Ryan Peterson (Green Bay) have also been named assistant coaches for the tournament.
All 22 players selected currently play in the USHL. The roster includes 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders. Team USA will face the Czech Republic and Canada West before Quarterfinal play begins on December 13th. The tournament will conclude on December 16th with the Gold Medal game at 1 PM (Central).

December 12th: USA vs Canada West 5:30 PM
December 13th: Quarterfinal game
December 14th: Semifinal
December 15th: 5th place & Bronze Medal games
December 16th: Gold Medal game (1 PM)
The Stampede return to action this weekend with a pair of home games against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Puck drop is 7:05 PM each night and tickets are available through the PREMIER Center or Ticketmaster. Saturday night is Teddy Bear Toss Night, presented by Dental Solutions. Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game and toss it onto the ice after the Herd's first goal. All bears collected will be delivered to local hospitals and charitable organizations by Stampede players.
