Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
Saskatchewan Roughrider offensive lineman Val St. Germain officially announced his retirement from the CFL today.
"I can think of no better way than to end my career as a member of the 2007 Grey Cup winning Saskatchewan Roughriders," stated Germain. "That being said, it is with mixed emotions that I am officially announcing my retirement today. The past 14 years have truly been 'Good Times' and I am thankful for the opportunity to have played the game I love for so long. There is no better moment than standing on that sideline, listening to the national anthem, with feelings of pride, determination and camaraderie coursing through you, waiting for kick-off. I will deeply miss this. It is time to move on though and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank-you. I would like to thank all of the organizations I have had the pleasure of being involved with throughout my career. I am also very grateful to all my former teammates and for the many friendships I have forged which I am able to take away from the game. Last but not least I would like to thank the great fans of the CFL who have made this all possible."
"I look forward to deepening my roots in my hometown of Ottawa and spending time with my beautiful wife Heidi, daughter Kallie and son Ashton. I also look forward to new challenges as I embark on my second career path. Currently I am concentrating on my training to become a financial advisor with the full service brokerage firm Edward Jones."
"Thank-you, Thank-you very much!"
