ST. GEORGE - The St. George RoadRunners, behind a six-run third inning, defeated the visiting Chico Outlaws 12-7 on Tuesday night.

With GBL President David Kaval and Commissioner Kevin Outcalt in the stadium, the home club wanted to prove their previous eight wins were not a fluke.

St. George starter Luis Gonzalez picked up his second win of the year tossing six innings allowing four runs on nine hits. The southpaw struck out four batters and allowed one walk.

Ruddy Yan, Ryan Stevenson, Alexis Gomez and A.J. Valentine led the offensive charge for the 'Runners. Yan went 4-for-4 and had a sacrifice fly. Stevenson reached base safely five times and finished 3-for-4. Alexis Gomez hit his team high sixth home run in the sixth-run third and knocked in three. Valentine added a solo blast in the fourth going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Chico starter Mike Martin received the loss (1-1) surrendering nine runs, three earned, on 11 hits in four innings.

The win moved St. George to 9-3 on the season, currently the best overall mark in the GBL. Chico dropped its record to 8-4.

St. George and Chico complete the three-game series Wednesday night at Bruce Hurst Field at 7:05pm. The RoadRunners will start Eric Van Slyke in his first outing since a complete game last Friday against Edmonton. The Outlaws counter with former Reno Silver Sox righty Andrew Alvarado.

The RoadRunners Radio Network will have coverage of Wednesday's homestand finale beginning at 6:45pm Mountain with John Potter.
