
SRU graduate is first to sign with SR Pro Baseball

Slippery Rock, PA -Slippery Rock Professional Baseball has announced the signing of its first player in preparation for its inaugural season. Outfielder Jason Curry, a Slippery Rock High School and Slippery Rock University graduate, becomes the first player to officially sign a contract with the new team.
Curry spent four seasons at Slippery Rock University, culminating with a .312 batting average, six home runs, and 24 RBI in 30 games during his senior season in 2004. While at SRU, Curry played in the 2003 NCAA Division II World Series.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for Jason to continue his dream of playing pro baseball," said Slippery Rock University head coach Jeff Messer. "With his outstanding work ethic, Jason will be a valuable asset to the team."
Slippery Rock Professional Baseball will begin its inaugural season on Wednesday, May 23, at the Washington Wild Things. The home opener will be on Tuesday, May 29, against the Florence Freedom. 32 home games will be played during the summer at Jack Critchfield Park on the campus of Slippery Rock University.
