SR Pro Baseball Announces Name Finalists

Slippery Rock, PA - After a week of receiving submissions in a Name the Team contest, Slippery Rock Professional Baseball has announced that Boulders, Rockers, Sliders, and Sluggers have been selected as the four finalists. Over 125 entries were submitted, which included 84 unique names.

Beginning Monday, December 18, fans will be able to vote for their favorite team name at www.insidebutlercounty.com, webpage of the Butler County Radio Network. Fans are also welcome to mail or fax their choices to the ballclub. On-line voting will run through December 31, 2006, with the official team name to be unveiled the first week of January.

A drawing amongst the fans who submitted the winning name will take place to determine the contest winner, who will receive four reserved seat tickets to Opening Night, be introduced during the pregame ceremonies along with the team, and participate in the ceremonial first pitch.

"We are impressed with the initial response that the ballclub has received during our first few weeks in operation," commented Slippery Rock general manager Steve Tahsler. "Having over 80 different submissions made the selection process difficult, but entertaining. We appreciate all fans who made suggestions."

Slippery Rock Professional Baseball will begin its inaugural season on Wednesday, May 23, at the Washington Wild Things. The home opener will be on Tuesday, May 29, against the Florence Freedom. 32 home games will be played during the summer at Jack Critchfield Park on the campus of Slippery Rock University.
