ALTOONA, PA - Josh Rodriguez supplied the game-winning single for the Altoona Curve (64-76) as they walked off with a, 1-0, win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels (75-66) at Blair County Ballpark on Sunday night. The loss keeps the Squirrels from claiming the wild-card spot in the Western Division. The ballgame was delayed for a total of one hour and 52 minutes due to two separate rain-delays.

Yunesky Sanchez sparked the lifeless Curve with a one-out double to the left-field corner off of right-hander Mitch Lively in the 11th inning. The Squirrels intentionally-walked Andrew Lambo to get to Rodriguez, who singled back through the middle to score Sanchez with the game-winning run.

Lively (0-4) took the loss for Richmond, allowing the only run in the ballgame. Right-hander Anthony Claggett (5-5) earned the win for Altoona, working the final 3 1/3 innings in relief. Claggett allowed just a lone hit, walked none and struck out two.

Curve right-hander Kyle McPherson was outstanding through five innings, keeping the Squirrels at bay on just two hits. He walked none, struck out five and didn't factor in the decision, departing with the ballgame still scoreless.

Squirrels' left-hander Chuck Lofgren matched him inning for inning, and actually worked six scoreless innings before rain interrupted the ballgame for the second time. Lofgren did not register a decision, allowing just three hits - all singles - walking one and striking out six.

Richmond right-hander Austin Fleet worked four nearly flawless innings in the defeat for Richmond, while right-hander Mike Loree worked 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for Altoona. The loss marked the 10th time the Squirrels have been shutout on the season.

The final game of the regular season is scheduled for 12 PM on Monday afternoon at Blair County Ballpark. The Squirrels have yet to announce a starter for the finale. Altoona will throw RHP Phil Irwin (8-4, 4.04). Pregame coverage will begin at 11:30 AM, and can be heard on Sports Radio 910 and SportsRadio910.com.
