Squadron Takes Down Texas, 127-97

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron (15-14), NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, secured a 127-97 home win over the Texas Legends (17-15) to take the season series 2-1 over the Legends.

Birmingham showed up early on offense, posting 70 points in the first half alone, led by a 14-point half by C Zach Hankins. The team finished with 127 points, the eleventh time this season scoring 120+ in a game.

Eight Squadron players scored in double digits, led by 21 from Hankins, shooting 80.0% from the floor - his third time this season leading the team in scoring. Daulton Hommes followed with 16 points, four assists and four rebounds off the bench, his third game scoring 20+ points off the bench this season. The third place scoring spot for Birmingham was a five-way tie at 15 points between guards John Petty Jr. (tied for a season high), Joe Young, Jared Harper, Justin Wright-Foreman and forward Zylan Cheatham.

Cheatham notched his 11th double-double of the season with 15 points and a team-high 16 rebounds and added a season high five assists.

The team shot 55% (44-for-80) from the field and 51.2% (21-for-41) from behind the arc, the 10th game shooting above 50.0% from the field and the third game shooting above 50.0% from three for the Squadron this season.

For the Legends, guard Anthony Mathis led the team with 24 points and tallied two assists and one rebound. Forward Justin Jackson trailed closely behind with 23 points, while adding six rebounds and six assists.

The Squadron heads to Des Moines, Iowa to face the Wolves (13-16) on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. CT before returning home for their final regular season home game against the Stockton Kings on Thursday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
