Herd Loses Hard-Fought Comeback

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to Grand Rapids Gold 111-107. The Herd trailed by 31 points in the first half but made a 15-4 run to put them within 14 points. The Herd continued a massive comeback to come within five points at the end of the third quarter. Tiwian Kendley made a huge push at the beginning of the fourth quarter to tie the game 98-98. The teams battled back and forth resulting in two lead changes and three times tied. In the end, the Gold won 111-107.

Frank Mason III led the Herd with 22 points while Rayjon Tucker added 21 points.

Petr Cornelie led the Gold with 35 points followed by Quade Green with 20 points.

The Gold went ahead 14-0 at the beginning of the first quarter. Sibert made back-to-back threes to put the Herd within 13 points. The Gold stayed ahead at the end of the first quarter 39-20. Wigginton hit back-to-back layups to put the Herd within 18 points with seven and a half minutes remaining in the second quarter. The Gold answered with an 8-0 run to go up 58-30. Rayjon Tucker converted a three-point buzzer-beater shot to end the half. The Gold led 66-41 at the end of the first half. Rayjon Tucker led the Herd with 14 points in the first half.

The Herd opened the third quarter with a 15-4 run to put the team within 14 points. The comeback continued with the Herd scoring eight unanswered points with four minutes left. The Herd continued to claw their way back coming within five points at the end of the third quarter. The Gold led 86-81 at the end of the third quarter.

Tiwian Kendley scored seven unanswered points to tie the game 98-98 with six minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Gold answered with a jump shot to take the lead 100-98 but Rayjon Tucker completed a free throw to tie the game again. Sandro Mamukelashvili threw down a dunk to put the Herd in the lead for the first time all game. The two teams went back-and-forth resulting in 3 times tied and 1 lead change. The Gold led 109-107 with 30 seconds left in the game. The Gold held on to win the game 111-107.

The Herd will hit the road to face off against the Delaware Blue Coats on Friday, April 1 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
