Springfield Wins Series Finale 6-4 on Sunday

North Little Rock, AR The Springfield Cardinals used more timely two-out hitting to grab a 6-4 win in the series finale over the Arkansas Travelers on Sunday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.

The Cardinals broke a 3-3 tie on DH Michael Ohlman's go-ahead two-out RBI single to put Springfield in front 4-3. SS Breyvic Valera's (HR, 1) first home run of the season was a two-out, two-run shot to left which gave the Cardinals some breathing room with a 6-3 lead.

The Travs grabbed a run in the ninth but fell two runs short in their comeback bid.

LHP Iden Nazario (W, 1-3) earned his first victory of the win after allowing a hit while striking out a pair of batters in a scoreless seventh inning. RHP Kyle Barraclough (SV, 5) locked down his seventh save of the year despite allowing a run (earned) while walking and striking out one batter each in the ninth inning.

RHP Austin Wood (L, 5-2) took the loss for Arkansas after giving up a run (earned) on four hits with no walks and two strikeouts in his two innings of work.

RHP Chris Ellis got the start and didn't factor into the decision after surrendering three runs (all earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and career-high seven walks in 3.2 innings.

C Anthony Bemboom (HR, 3) drilled a two-run homer to right with two outs in the bottom of the second inning to put Arkansas up by a 2-1 score at the time.

DH Raywilly Gomez was on base all four times for the Travelers, singling twice and drawing a pair of walks while scoring a run in the loss.

The 8,445 fans in attendance for Sunday's ballgame was a new high for the Travelers on the 2015 season.

The Travelers enter the All-Star Break at 39-36 on the year and an even 3-3 on the second half. Arkansas will next play on the road in Midland on July 2nd at 7:00 p.m. to start up a six-game road trip.

The Travs will be back at Dickey-Stephens Park on Wednesday, July 8th for a 7:10 p.m. ballgame against the Midland RockHounds for $1 Hot Dog Night.
