Springfield Acquires Dominique Jones

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, announced today that they have acquired guard Dominique Jones from the NBA Development League's available player pool.

Jones (6-5, 215, South Florida) appeared in 29 games (three starts) with the Dallas Mavericks this season, averaging 4.0 points and 2.9 assists in 11.7 minutes per game before being waived on March 9. Jones has appeared in 80 games (four starts) since he was originally selected with the 24th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies and traded to the Mavericks for cash considerations. He holds career NBA averages of 3.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 9.1 minutes per game and was a member of the 2011 NBA champion Mavericks as a rookie.

Jones has also appeared in 13 games (10 starts) during two NBA D-League assignments with the Texas Legends, the Mavericks' affiliate, and holds career NBA D-League averages of 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 33.8 minutes per game.

Prior to joining the Mavericks, Jones played three seasons at the University of South Florida and was named to the All-Big East First Team following the 2009-10 season. Jones captured the 2009-10 Big East scoring title, averaging 21.4 points per game.

To make room on the roster, the Armor waived forward Paul Carter.

Jones, 24, will join the Armor for practice tonight and will be available tomorrow when the Armor host the Erie BayHawks at 7:00 pm at the MassMutual Center.
