May 21, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - Sporting Kansas City News Release

As part of a multifaceted First Team partnership with Compass Minerals, Sporting Kansas City has formally announced new names for two world-class sports facilities in Kansas City, Kansas: Compass Minerals National Performance Center, formerly Pinnacle, and Compass Minerals Sporting Fields, formerly Wyandotte Sporting Fields.

"We're excited to support the Sporting KC organization and the Kansas City metro through our partnership," said Compass Minerals President and CEO Kevin Crutchfield. "At the same time, we get to shine a light on the people and essential products that make Compass Minerals a great place to work. We're proud to be associated with Sporting KC and these best-in-class facilities."

The multi-year partnership launched in 2018 and saw Compass Minerals become Sporting Kansas City's first sleeve sponsor ahead of the 2020 Major League Soccer season.

"We are delighted to expand our partnership with Compass Minerals to include naming rights at two of the best athletic facilities in the region," said Sporting Kansas President and CEO Jake Reid. "Sporting continues to benefit greatly from the products and expertise provided by Compass Minerals, and through this connection we have the luxury of playing and training on the most pristine fields in the country."

Compass Minerals National Performance Center, a $75-million facility that opened in 2018, serves as the state-of-the-art training home of Sporting Kansas City and a premier soccer destination for the development of players, coaches and referees at the youth through professional levels. Compass Minerals Sporting Fields, a $20-million complex that opened in 2017, boasts 12 playing fields across 52 acres as one of the Midwest's top venues for youth sports.

Headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, Compass Minerals is the official plant nutrition and salt provider of Sporting Kansas City with production and packaging facilities located throughout the world. The company is the leading salt producer in North America and the United Kingdom as well as the United States' leading producer of magnesium chloride.

Children's Mercy Park, Sporting's home stadium, and Compass Minerals National Performance Center are both treated with Compass Minerals' specialty plant nutrition portfolio of turf products. Sporting also uses the company's premium deicing products to ensure the safety of players and visitors at all Sporting Club facilities -- including Compass Minerals Sporting Fields -- during the winter months.
