Spokane Shock Announce 2015 Schedule
December 19, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Spokane Shock News Release
SPOKANE, WA (December 19, 2014) - The Arena Football League announced the 2015 regular season schedule today.
The 2015 AFL schedule will kick off one week later than the 2014 as the first games of the season will take place the weekend of Friday, March 27. The regular season will again feature two bye weeks over the course of the 20 week season, with the Shock receiving breaks during Week 4 and again during a league-wide bye week during the Fourth of July weekend (Week 15).
The Shock will be tested early in 2015 with an opening weekend match up against the ArenaBowl champion Arizona Rattlers before playing host to the Philadelphia Soul for their home opener in Week 2 on Saturday, April 4 with a 7:00 p.m. PT kickoff at Spokane Veteran's Memorial Arena. The Shock will then go back on the road in Week 3 to face the Portland Thunder under the new direction of Head Coach Mike Hohensee.
"If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best," said Shock Head Coach Andy Olson. "We're going to be entering the season with a very young, but hungry team, so the opportunity to be tested against teams like Arizona, Philadelphia and Portland will provide us with big tests early on."
Returning from a Week 4 bye, the Shock will go on to host three of four contests at Spokane Veteran's Memorial Arena over the next month. The Shock will host the Orlando Predators in Week 5 and visit the New Orleans VooDoo in Week 6 before returning to Spokane for back-to-back home games. For the first time the Los Angeles KISS will visit Spokane, followed up by a much anticipated match up against the San Jose SaberCats featuring the return of former Shock QB Erik Meyer and WR Adron Tennell.
Over the final 11 weeks of the regular season the Shock will go on to host the Arizona Rattlers twice, San Jose for a second time, the Portland Thunder and also the new expansion franchise in the Las Vegas Outlaws. Spokane will also visit the 2015 American Conference Champion Gladiators in Week 19 as they search for pay back after a hail mary loss to Cleveland during the 2014 regular season in Spokane.
"We're very excited about the upcoming year's home schedule," said Shock Vice President of Fan Engagement and Sales Andrew Dolan. "As we enter our 10th season as a franchise the 2015 home schedule features some of the top franchises in the AFL, as well as, teams in Los Angeles and Las Vegas that Shock fans will get to see for the first time. In working with Spokane Arena, we are also very pleased with having a balance of Friday and Saturday night games. It has all the makings of another electrifying season of Shock arena football here in Spokane."
