Spokane Returns Home With 2-0 Lead

March 23, 2010 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release

The Spokane Chiefs will take their 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven first round series into game three on Wednesday night in the Spokane Arena. The Chiefs earned victories in games one and two last weekend in Portland and now face the potential of hosting four of the next five games of the series.

Spokane, the number four seed, holds home-ice advantage but started the series on the road in Portland. The Chiefs will host Wednesday night's game three and Friday night's game four. Saturday night is still an "if-necessary" game and would also be played in the Spokane Arena.

Tickets for Wednesday and Friday night are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or through TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.

In the first game of the series last Saturday the Chiefs came from a pair of two-goal deficits, including a 4-2 score at the end of two, to earn a 5-4 win over the Winterhawks. Kyle Beach scored two goals, including the game winner at 18:42 of the third to cap a three goal third period. Steve Kuhn, Stefan Ulmer and Tyler Johnson also scored for Spokane.

Kenton Miller scored two goals to earn their second win in the series in Portland on Sunday night. Mitch Wahl and Blake Gal also scored for the Chiefs and James Reid turned away 39 Portland shots in picking up the win for the Chiefs. In the first two games, seven players scored goals and 10 registered points.
