Spokane loses to Vancouver

November 3, 2007 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release

Tyson Sexsmith stopped 25 Spokane shots and added three more in a shootout to give the Vancouver Giants a 2-1 win over the Chiefs in the Arena on Saturday night. The loss snapped the Chiefs nine game winning streak, but gives the Chiefs a point and moves them into first place all alone in the U.S. Division with 27 points, one more than the Tri-City Americans, 6-4 losers to the Seattle Thunderbirds.

After a scoreless first period, the Chiefs Chris Bruton scored off a draw on the power play to give Spokane a 1-0 lead. The advantage held up until Vancouver's Mario Bliznak tied it up at 2:37 of the first.

Spokane outshot the Giants 3-2 in overtime, but got the only goal of the three-man shootout by Bliznak.

The Chiefs will finish their weekend when they travel to Seattle on Sunday night for a 5:00 date with the Thunderbirds. The game will be the third in nine days between the two.

Spokane returns home next Friday night when they host the Kamloops Blazers on Bingo Night presented by Coeur d'Alene Casino, Oldies 101.1 and The Inlander.

Tickets to all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK.
