November 3, 2007 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release

Dustin Tokarski shutout the Seattle Thunderbirds for the second straight game and the Chiefs won their ninth in a row with a 3-0 decision on Friday night in the Spokane Arena.

Tokarski became the first Chief goaltender to post back-to-back shutouts in consecutive starts since Jim Watt did it in 2003-04. The 18-year-old now has two shutouts this season and four in his career. Tokarski currently is the number one goaltender in the WHL with a 1.72 GAA. The two-year veteran had 22 saves last Saturday night in a 2-0 win over the Thunderbirds. Kevin Armstrong started on Sunday night in Portland in Spokane's 9-1 win.

Jared Spurgeon had a goal and an assist in the win to give the Chiefs their second longest winning streak in franchise history. Spokane won 12 games in the 1995-96 season. Spurgeon's goal came at 8:42 of the first.

Levko Koper scored at 7:13 of the third to give Spokane breathing room and Chris Bruton iced the game with his sixth of the year at 14:36.

The Chiefs remain in a first place tie with the Tri-City Americans in the U.S. Division after the Americans 8-2 win over the Vancouver Giants, Spokane's opponent on Saturday night.

The Chiefs will present the first Buck Night presented by Coca-Cola and 92.9 ZZU of the season. Coca- Cola products, hot dogs and popcorn will all be available for only one dollar.

Tickets to all Chiefs home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
