June 28, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release
Spokane, WA -The Spokane Indians announced today the creation of the first annual Ride the Bases motorcycle ride presented by U.S. Linen & Uniform. The event, which is scheduled for Thursday, August 12th, is a motorcycle ride that begins at the Lone Wolf Harley-Davidson dealership and finishes at Avista Stadium, with proceeds benefitting the Rypien Foundation. The event gives participants a one-of-a-kind opportunity to ride their motorcycles onto the field before the game for the singing of the National Anthem.
"We are excited about this new event and the chance to partner with the Rypien Foundation," said Indians Senior Vice President, Otto Klein. "This is a great opportunity for us to raise money and awareness for an important cause."
The Rypien Foundation, created by former Washington State quarterback and Super Bowl XXVI MVP Mark Rypien, is dedicated to providing hope for local families battling childhood cancer. Rypien, who lost his three-year-old son to cancer, continues to raise and provide funding to support programs and projects that help address the unique needs of children with cancer.
"We're excited to partner with community-focused organizations to bring awareness to our cause," said Rypien. "This event provides a great opportunity for us to expand our reach and involve more of the community in what we're doing".
The cost for the event is just $30 and includes a commemorative t-shirt, donation to the Rypien Foundation, an Indians ticket to the August 12th game against the Everett Aquasox, a Harley-Davidson poker chip, an all-you-can eat buffet, and live concert before the game.
Registration forms are available at Lone Wolf Harley-Davidson (19011 E. Cataldo Ave.), Schrader & Murphy Insurance (910 W. Boone, Suite #1), all Longhorn BBQ Locations, or by visiting SpokaneIndiansRideTheBases.com.
