
Spitfires Sign Czechia Defenceman Josef Eichler from 2023 CHL Import Draft

WINDSOR, ON. - The Windsor Spitfires are excited to announce Josef Eichler has signed an OHL scholarship and development agreement. Eichler, was drafted by the Spitfires in the 2023 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft 46th overall.
Eichler, from Czechia, stands at six feet tall and spent the 2022-23 season with the HC Plzen U20 team, recording 9 points (0-9-9) in 38 games. He also played in eighteen games for the Czechia U18 team, scoring three points (0-3-3).
Josef spoke on signing with the Spitfires.
"I am very happy and looking forward to putting on the Spitfires jersey." Eichler said. "I'm looking forward to everything, my teammates, practices, games, the fans and overall life in Canada."
General Manager Bill Bowler spoke on the acquisition of Eichler to the team.
"Josef is an important addition for our team." General Manager Bill Bowler said. "We welcome him to this group and our community. He is a versatile defender who plays an enthusiastic physical style."
