November 5, 2023 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Spitfires were looking to avenge a last second loss from the night previous as they faced off against the Soo Greyhounds for the 2nd game of the back to back series. However, the Spitfires were down 7 skaters due to injuries and ultimately fell to the Hounds by a score of 5-2.
In the first period, the Soo tested Michelone a lot and he stood up to the task. He stopped all 16 shots in the period. The Spitfires would get on the scoreboard first as Peer found the back of night for his 7th of the year from Cristoforo and Christopoulos. That was the lone goal of the period.
In the second period, the Greyhounds were able to beat Michelone and tie the game up at one just over six minutes in. Just nine minutes later, the Soo would gain their first lead of the game and take a 2-1 lead. The Spitfires were able to respond quickly as they potted their 2nd to tie the game at 2 as Cole Davis found the back of the net. After 40 minutes we were tied 2-2 meanwhile the Soo had a 30-20 shot lead.
In the third period, the Soo would score the game winning goal off the stick of Mignosa just over halfway through the frame. They would add 2 empty netters and take the game by a score of 5-2.
The Spitfires are back in action on Thursday as the London Knights come to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm
