
Spitfires Fall to the Soo, 8-2

SAULT STE. MARIE - The Spitfires got down early and could not mount a comeback and ultimately fell to the Soo 8-2.
In the first period, the Soo rallied off two quick goals in the first 5 minutes to take a 2-0 lead. The Spitfires would have trouble controlling the puck and had a few too many turnovers throughout the period. In the final 3 minutes, the Spitfires responded with a deflection by Maillet for his 24th of the season to make it a 2-1 game. The shots were tied at 12 after 20 minutes.
In the second period, the Soo would rally off another 3 goals to take a commanding 5-1 lead heading into the third period.
In the third period, the Soo would score to take a 6-1 lead. A few minutes later, the Spits would score on the powerplay with a snipe from Dionicio to make it a 6-2 game. The Soo would add 2 more and take this one 8-2.
The Spitfires are back in action on Wednesday vs Guelph. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
