Toledo Spitfire News Release
The Toledo Spitfire suffered their first loss of the 2004 campaign, a 66-6 drubbing by the SW Michigan Jaguars. Nothing went right for Toledo from start to finish as the Spitfire had no first downs and their total offense was non-existent. The lone bright spot for the Spits was a 70-yard kick-off return for a touchdown by Leah Hawkins to start the 4th quarter. But that was the only positive play on a very dreary night for the Spitfire who now fall to 2-1 in the Great Lakes Conference of the NWFA. QB Casey Stinson threw an interception and also suffered a fumble in the loss to the Jaguars, who move to 3-1 in the conference. The Jags were led on offense by RB standout Angela Edwards, who gained large yardage every time she touched the football. Toledo Head Coach Jerry Davis and the Spitfire must now regroup and prepare as they get set to face a very tough Columbus Comet team that lost a close battle with the defending champion Detroit Demolition by an 18-10 score. The game is set for Saturday night, May 8th at 7pm at Bulldog Stadium in Rossford, Ohio. That game can be heard online by going to http://cherokee.totalink.net and joining the team of Mik Gonzales and Tracey Roberts to bring you all the play-by-play action of Toledo Spitfire Football.
