Toledo Spitfire News Release

TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo Spitfire head into their final game of the 2004 NWFA season Saturday night against the two time defending champion Detroit Demolition. The Spitfire are still smarting after a 74-0 pasting from the Southwest Michigan Jaguars in Kalamazoo last Saturday night in a game where nothing went right for the Spits. Toledo used three different players at the quarterback position but none were able to move the team as the total offense amounted to a disasterous -77 yards. The defense could not contain Jaguar RB Angela Edwards who went over a 1,000 yards rushing the previous game versus Wisconsin. Against Toledo, Edwards could not be stopped as she ran for 279 yards and scored five rushing TD's and caught a touchdown pass from Jaguar pivot Kelly Bennett as well. By virtue of their win over Toledo and Pittsburg's loss to the D.C. Divas, Southwest Michigan will be in post season play.

Things do not get easier for the Spitfire as they close out the season in the Motor City versus the Demolition. Detroit remains atop the Great Lakes conference with an undefeated record and show no signs of slowing up as they look to head to Louisville for a chance at their third NWFA championship in a row. The Spits/ Demolition game can be heard online this Saturday night at 7pm ET by going to http://cherokee.totalink.net for the season finale of Toledo Spitfire football.
